Who we are...
East Hawaii IPA is a multi-specialty Independent Physician Association (IPA) incorporated in November 1994 as a non-profit corporation with 20 Primary Care Providers. Its membership has now grown to over 90 physicians and ancillary care providers throughout the Big Island. Major services include:
- IPA Membership Services
- Health Plan Network Management
- Health Care Quality Assurance Programs
- Community Health and Medical Education
EHI is deeply committed to the overall well being of the communities on the Big Island. Health and medical seminars, educational events, and the annual medical symposium are examples of the organizational commitments to health education at all levels to all the constituents we serve.
East Hawaii IPA in the Community:
East Hawaii IPA Supports Diabetes Education with a Donation of $150,000 over a 5 Year Period to Ke Anuenue Area Health Education Center.
Beginning on January 1, 2007 and lasting through December 31, 2011, East Hawaii IPA is proud to support Ke Anuenue AHEC in their diabetes education efforts. Recognizing that diabetes is a growing problem in our community, EHI has pledged these funds to help Ke Anuenue establish and run a dynamic and effective outreach and education program.
East Hawaii IPA Teams up with Local High Schools to Provide Free Physical Exam Screenings for Local High School Students.
Each year at the end of May EHI provides physical exam screenings at Ke`eau and Hilo High Schools (contact the school's athletic department for more information). For a small donation to the high school's athletic department, a student (accompanied by their parent or guardian) can receive a physical that is good for one year.
East Hawaii IPA Donates $50,000 to the Hilo Medical Center Foundation to Help Kick Off Their Residency Program Drive
Recognizing that the Neighbor Islands face a shortage of Primary Care Physicians, the East Hawaii IPA is supporting the Medical Center Foundation's effort to raise $1.5 Million over the next three years to fund a residency program at the Hilo Medical Center.
